Depending on your area of concern, your provider will be able to analyze your facial structure and make recommendations on how much and where to fill areas with lost volume. Treatments can last from six months up to one year with one visit. However, patients may need to return after two to six weeks to “fine-tune” their initial visit in order to achieve optimal results. In some cases, duration of the filler may be shorter or longer as each patient’s body breaks down hyaluronic acid differently.
Treatment results can be seen immediately by volume being restored for a more youthful, revitalized appearance. Talk to your provider about the desired results for a customized Juvedérm treatment that fits your needs.
The procedure is very quick and easy! A topical numbing cream is applied to the site prior to treatment for added comfort. Some patients may experience mild swelling or bruising at the injection site that lasts anywhere from a few hours to a few days. Cold compresses can be applied post treatment to reduce any potential side-effects. Camouflage makeup may also be used, and most patients can return immediately to work and resume normal activities. We recommend that patients avoid aspirin, vitamin E supplements and alcohol for five days prior to any injectable procedure to minimize the risk of bruising. The doctor will discuss your medical history at your office visit to rule out any contraindications to this product.
Filler helps with restoring volume to areas, but sometimes additional treatment like Botox® or Dysport® may be needed to help soften some excess muscle contractions which result in the formation of lines. Treatments to help the epidermis and general skin health such as DermaSweep, chemical peels, laser resurfacing and a customized topical regimen will help accentuate the injectable treatment. The combination of multiple skin therapies can effectively treat a wide array of signs of aging.
