Our team uses the T.R.U.E Allergy Patch Test to identify specific skin allergies that may have been caused by specific allergens.
If you experience redness, irritation, or itching on your skin and you aren’t sure what causes it, you may be an ideal candidate for allergy patch testing at Pinski Dermatology. We recommend this type of testing for a patient whose dermatitis persists, does not improve with treatment, and/or has an unusual pattern or distribution.
The patch test panels can only be applied to healthy skin that is not injured or irritated.
We use the T.R.U.E Allergy Patch Test to identify specific skin allergies you may have when you come into contact with them. The test includes 35 different allergens and a negative control on three panels. Some of these allergens include nickel, fragrance, parabens, gold and bacitracin.
The three adhesive test panels are applied on your first visit. We will have you return in two days for a preliminary reading and remove the panels. Two days after your second visit, we will have you return for a final reading.
On each visit, we are checking to see if your skin has reacted to any of the allergens. We record the results based on the severity of the reaction, and this way we can determine what you may be allergic to.
We typically apply the test panels on a Monday, and see patients back on Wednesday and Friday of the same week.
