Sun Damage & Brown Spots

Our team offers a variety of treatment options for improving the appearance of sun damage and brown spots.

Sun Damage & Brown Spots

Sun damage and brown spots are something that can truly make a person look older than they are, as they make the skin look uneven, weathered and damaged. Sometimes sun damage even comes in the form of redness or broken capillaries. While properly wearing sunscreen on a daily basis year round is the best way to prevent any sun damage and brown spots on the skin, there are ways to treat them should you already have them.

Treating Sun Damage & Brown Spots

Pinski Dermatology offers many treatments which can help improve and eliminate sun damage and pigmented brown spots. Schedule your consultation with one of our providers to see which treatment is right for you.

Alex Laser & YAG Laser

Both are lasers that use heat to target and remove pigmented lesions and tattoos. Most men and women who have freckles, sunspots, age spots, brown birthmarks or tattoos are good candidates. We ask that you come in for a consultation prior to any laser treatment to determine the best treatment plan for you and the appropriate laser. The YAG laser works best on black, red, dark orange and dark blue tattoos. For green, purple, brown, light orange and light blue colors, we recommend the Alex Laser.

KTP for Capillaries

KTP is a laser that specifically targets vascular lesions, dilated/broken capillaries, cherry angiomas as well as brown pigmented lesions on the skin. The laser works by heating the vascular walls and melanocytes causing them to weaken and shut down. The body will then absorb the vascular and shed the pigmented waste.

Perméa Laser

Developed by Clear + Brilliant®, Perméa effectively treats the tissue where melanin resides and is also safe on all skin types. The hand piece utilizes a 1927 nm wavelength which specifically helps to brighten skin tone. The hand piece also creates wider and shallower lesions causing greater superficial disruption, which increases skin permeability.

Photodynamic Therapy

Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is a safe and effective way to reduce acne, skin redness, fine wrinkles, irregular pigmentation and large pores. PDT is also used to treat actinic keratosis (precancerous cells). PDT is light therapy performed in conjunction with a topical application of Levulan to treat skin damage.

Chemical Peels

A chemical peel is the controlled topical application of an acid solution that is applied topically to the skin which will exfoliate dead skin cells, improve tone and texture, and encourage the rate of new cell turnover.

Peels can help treat a variety of concerns and a series will be individually tailored to fit your needs which will drastically improve the appearance of the skin. Our doctors and providers all perform chemical peels. Your doctor or skin care specialist will carefully select the proper strength and type of chemical peel to suit your individual skin type and concern.

DermaSweep

The DermaSweep MD Multi-Level Skin Resurfacing System exfoliates dead skin and damaged cells with a unique bristle technology, and gently “sweeps” away signs of aging. A controlled suction stimulates blood flow and accelerates collagen production. The second portion of the treatment uses highly concentrated, paraben-free epidermal infusions that provide the skin with essential vitamins and ingredients that improve the overall health of the skin.

MicroPeel

This procedure is a two-step clinical procedure combining dermaplaning and chemical peels. The MicroPeel can be tailored to all skin types, even sensitive skin! Most patients love this treatment a few days before an event as makeup looks beautiful on the new, fresh skin.

Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion is a comfortable, non-invasive exfoliation treatment that uses a diamond-tipped wand for superficial skin polishing. This treatment is easy, and effective and treats a variety of skin conditions and all skin types.
