Dr. Todd Johnson is a board-certified dermatologist and Mohs surgeon with more than 20 years of clinical experience. At VitalSkin, his work includes skin cancer care and Mohs surgery. He sees patients through Dermatology + Aesthetics in Oak/Elmwood Park and Pinski Dermatology in Bourbonnais.
For certain basal cell carcinomas and squamous cell carcinomas, Mohs surgery allows Dr. Johnson to remove cancer in stages and examine the tissue edges during the appointment. The cancer’s location, borders, and treatment history help determine whether this approach is appropriate. When another stage is needed, he removes tissue from the area where cancer cells remain, preserving surrounding healthy skin.
Dr. Johnson studied at Miami University and earned his medical degree at the University of Illinois College of Medicine, where he later completed his dermatology residency. He is board-certified in Dermatology and Micrographic Dermatologic Surgery by the American Board of Dermatology. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology and the American Society for Mohs Surgery. He also belongs to the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery and the Chicago Dermatological Society.
Outside of clinical practice, Dr. Johnson enjoys conservation and land stewardship in Northern Illinois and southwest Wisconsin.
