Our completely-customized facial treatments are designed to treat your skin care concerns. Each medical facial is comprised of cleansing the skin, steam and one, two or three exfoliators. Extractions, CO2 and high frequency are performed when appropriate. The treatment is completed with a mask and relaxing massage of the face.
What Will the Procedure Feel Like?
Each person’s experience can be different and is greatly dependent on your skin condition. Most find our medical facials to be an overall pampering experience. Depending on the blend of treatments performed during your medical facial, some experience mild tingling during the chemical peel, mild cool suction during the dermasweep, and gentle scraping during the dermplaning. There is also minor discomfort if and when extractions are performed.
Do I Have To Do Anything To Prepare in Advance?
Discontinue use of any topical retinoids (Retin-A, Tazorac, Differin, Ziana, Epiduo, Tretinoin, Clear Plus, Avene Retrinal or Triacneal, Triluma, etc.) and mechanical or granular exfoliation for five days prior to treatment. Avoid facial waxing for seven days prior to treatment.Follow the recommended skin care regimen as directed by your service provider for treatment. Make sure your skin is not irritated or inflamed before a peel. Please tell your provider if you have a history of cold sores as we recommend pretreatment to prevent a flare. Treatment may not be performed if there is an active cold sore.
What Will I Look Like Afterwards?
Downtime is dependent on the type of treatment performed and how aggressive your treatment is.
- Mild chemical peel: Initial redness lasting a few hours. There may be no peeling.
- Mild to medium chemical peel: Initial redness lasting a few hours. Mild to medium peeling skin lasting one to five days, does not usually start until 24-48 hours after a peel.
- Extractions: Redness and swelling at the extraction site, resolves within three to four days. Please note that there is always a risk of a small acne flare with extractions.
- Dermasweep: For most patients, a few hours of mild redness after a treatment. However, some may experience mild scratches or petechiae (small red or purple spots on the skin, caused by a minor injury to broken capillaries) with treatment. These may take up to one week to resolve.
How Many Treatments are Necessary?
Average skin requires regular exfoliation to maintain a bright complexion. For best accumulative results in skin changes, it is recommended that a medical facial be performed every four to six weeks.
When Will I See Results?
Results will vary per patient and realistic expectations will be discussed during your first treatment. Having a good at home regimen will help attain optimum results. In addition, smoking, excessive alcohol and excessive sun exposure will limit results.
Who Cannot Have the Treatment?
A facial can be customized for anyone and everyone!
Testimonial
“I admit I was not a firm believer of the effects a medical grade facial yielded until I experienced one for myself. I committed to one medical facial monthly for 3 consecutive months and I had never been so thrilled with how my skin appeared (and I have worked in a dermatology office or plastic surgeon office for the past 10 years). My skin was brighter, my texture was smooth, and my skin care products seemed to absorb more evenly which helped me to maintain my glow. I no longer perceive facials as just a pampering luxury. They are a crucial component to my skin regimen.”+ NT, age 31
